Meet the Band
Adam Gorman
Adam Gorman is the lead singer and acoustic guitar player, calling Wichita home after growing up in Fort Scott, Kansas. He credits his parents for introducing him to music at an early age, sparking a lifelong passion for listening, writing, and performing across many genres, with a deep love for classic country and Red Dirt. In 2017, Adam was a Top 10 finalist in the Texas Country Music Association Songwriter Contest for his original song “Beer on the Nightstand.” He has shared the stage with artists including Niko Moon, Cody Jinks, Randall King, Casey Donahew, Corey Kent, and more.

Scott Bell
Scott Bell is a seasoned electric guitarist from Andale, Kansas who turned professional at just 14 years old. A CMA member and former Keating Music Ventures songwriter, Scott has recorded and toured across multiple major projects, including charting releases with the Sarah Dunn Band, Grindstone Entertainment Group, and Republic Records. His work has earned national radio placement and iHeartRadio features. Over the course of his career, Scott has shared the stage with an impressive lineup of country and rock heavyweights including George Jones, Casey Donahew, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Cody Johnson, Whiskey Myers, Niko Moon, and many more. Known for his versatility, tone, and road-tested professionalism, Scott brings big-stage energy and elite musicianship to every performance.

Todd Gilmore
Todd Gilmore, a seasoned drummer from Augusta KS, started his playing career as a kid on the backline of his mom’s country band, where he honed his “pocket” playing ability. His chops are deeply rooted in country music but his love for all genres can be heard in his playing style. Todd’s musical career spanned several decades and allowed him the opportunity to back a lot of different bands, and several different genres but country music is what he loves. Over his career, Todd has shared the stage with a host of national and regional touring, Country and Red Dirt acts including, Cody Jinks, Randall King, Corey Kent, Niko Moon, Casy Donahew, Mickey and the Motorcars and many more. Todd brings big stage energy to every performance and loves any time he can crawl behind his kit and fall into a pocket groove.

Rick Shirley
Rick has been making music almost his entire life. He started as a classically trained violinist at age three, added trumpet a year later, and became the youngest member of the Springfield (Ohio) Youth Symphony. By high school, he traded his violin for a bass guitar and discovered where he truly belonged.
After graduation, Rick joined the U.S. Army Band program, trained at the Army/Navy School of Music, and was stationed with the 76th Army Band in Kaiserslautern, Germany. During his five years there, he performed across Europe—including for Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush—and, of course, at more than a few memorable German beer and wine festivals.
Following his military service, Rick and his wife (a fellow 76th Band alumnus) settled down to raise their family. Once the kids were grown, he returned to performing and helped found Wichita’s popular 80s rock band EPIC. His journey with Prairie Smoke grew out of longtime friendships with Adam Gorman and Todd Gilmore, first formed in The Recess Band. When the lineup evolved to include Scott Bell, Prairie Smoke was born—and the rest, as Rick likes to say, is history in the making.
